Multan district administration spokesperson Waseem Yousuf has said that while the Chenab’s levels were falling, a major flood surge in the Sutlej was expected to reach Jalalpur within days, threatening adjacent villages in Lodhran and Bahawalpur.

Punjab PDMA spokesperson said water levels were falling in nearly all major rivers of Punjab, including Jhelum, Sutlej, Ravi and Chenab.

“A low-level flood persists at Panjnad, with water level now at 148,450 cusecs, while Ganda Singh Wala continues to be in a medium flood with water level 95,000 cusecs,” he said.

Punjab rivers normal; Sutlej moderate at Ganda Singh Wala

Punjab’s PDMA reported normal flows in the Indus, Jhelum, and Ravi, and in the Chenab at Marala, Khanki, Qadirabad, and Trimmu.

The Sutlej remains at medium flood at Ganda Singh Wala, with low-level conditions at Sulemanki and Head Islam.

At Panjnad, a low-level flood persists, easing to 194,000 cusecs. District administrations remain on alert to respond fast if levels change.

Reservoirs strong as relief work accelerates

Federal Minister Moeen Wattoo confirmed Panjnad’s fall and said high-level classifications continue at Guddu and Sukkur, while Kotri stays in low flood with steady flows.

Tarbela has been at 100% capacity since August 27, and Mangla is at 96% with four feet of storage remaining.

The government is assessing damages and accelerating relief to affected families to keep recovery moving.

Rain forecast for north and central Punjab; advisories issued

PDMA forecast rain in most districts over the next 24 hours as the 11th monsoon spell continues through September 19.

A rise in hill-stream flows is possible in Rawalpindi, Murree, and Galiyat on September 18–19.

Showers are expected in Rawalpindi, Murree, Galiyat, Attock, Chakwal, Jhelum, Gujranwala, Lahore, Gujrat, Sialkot, Narowal, Hafizabad, Mandi Bahauddin, Okara, Sahiwal, Kasur, Jhang, Sargodha, and Mianwali.

Authorities urged residents to follow local advisories and avoid riverbanks during peak flows.
