WEBDESK: Pakistan has earned another international honour as young bodybuilder Shehroz Khan from Karachi’s Malir area won a gold medal at the Mr Universe Bodybuilding Championship in Pattaya, Thailand.
Shehroz competed in the 70+ kg category, defeating strong rivals from around the world to secure first place. His victory raised Pakistan’s flag on the global stage.
On his return, Shehroz received a hero’s welcome at Karachi Airport. Family members, fans, and MQM Pakistan leader Shariq Jamal greeted him with flowers and national flags.
Speaking to the media, Shehroz said: “I cannot thank Allah enough. Winning gold abroad is never easy. It takes a strict diet, tough training, and the prayers of my coach and family.”
MQM MPA Shariq Jamal called Shehroz’s achievement a matter of national pride. He said he would raise the issue in the Sindh Assembly to demand financial support and official recognition for the young champion. “It is the state’s responsibility to support such talented athletes,” he added.
Following Shehroz’s success, sports circles and bodybuilding professionals have urged the government to provide better facilities, sponsorships, and opportunities for Pakistani athletes to compete internationally. They said this would allow more young talent to shine on the world stage.
