Qatar’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of State for Defence, H.E. Sheikh Saud bin Abdulrahman bin Hassan Al-Thani, held a meeting with Pakistan’s Chief of Army Staff, Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, during the Field Marshal’s visit to Qatar.
During the meeting, both leaders discussed matters of mutual interest and explored ways to enhance defence cooperation between Pakistan and Qatar.
The two sides also reviewed regional and international developments and their implications for peace and security.
Senior officials from both countries were present at the meeting, reflecting the importance both nations attach to strengthening defence ties and mutual coordination.
Previously, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif had condemned Israel for violating Qatar’s sovereignty, saying the attack on Doha undermined efforts for peace in the Middle East.
While addressing the Arab-Islamic emergency summit in Doha, he stated that Pakistan strongly denounced the assault and stood in full solidarity with the Qatari leadership and people.
He noted that Israel had carried out the strike to sabotage mediation and peace efforts, even though Qatar was playing the role of a negotiator.
He had urged the creation of an Arab task force and called for immediate action against Israel, including an urgent ceasefire, the release of hostages and the freedom of Palestinians.
He had also stressed that the conflict could only be resolved through a two-state solution, with Palestine recognised as an independent state with Jerusalem as its capital.
