May 9 case: Khadija Shah sentenced to five years in prison

Web desk: An Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) in Lahore has sentenced fashion designer Khadija Shah to five years in prison in a case related to the burning of a Supreme Court judge’s squad vehicle during the May 9 riots.

The court acquitted former foreign minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi of all charges in the same case.

PTI leaders Yasmin Rashid, Ejaz Chaudhry, Mian Mehmood ur Rasheed, and Omar Sarfraz Cheema were each handed 10-year prison sentences.

The court also acquitted Rubina Jameel and Afshan Tariq. The verdict was announced by ATC Judge Manzar Ali Gul at Kot Lakhpat Jail.

PTI founder’s nephew Shershah Khan gets bail in May 9 riots case

Before this, an Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) in Lahore approved the post-arrest bail of PTI founder Imran Khan’s nephew and Aleema Khan’s son, Shershah Khan, in the May 9 Jinnah House attack case.

ATC Judge Manzar Ali Gul granted bail against a surety bond of Rs100,000 after hearing arguments from both sides.

Shershah’s mother, Aleema Khan, was present in court. His lawyer argued that there was no evidence against him and that he had not taken part in any violent activity.

Previously, Shershah Khan had been arrested in Lahore. Earlier, Aleema Khan’s other son, Shahrez Khan, was remanded to eight days of police custody by an anti-terrorism court in connection with the May 9 riots case.
