WEBDESK: More than 158,000 people in Punjab’s flood-affected areas are suffering from various illnesses, health officials have reported.
According to the Health Department, 49,500 cases of respiratory diseases have been recorded, while 43,000 people are suffering from fever. Skin diseases have affected over 33,000 residents.
Cases of diarrhoea have reached 20,945, and 7,621 patients reported eye infections at flood relief medical camps. There were also 143 cases of dog bites and 88 cases of snake bites. Minor injuries were reported in more than 2,700 people.
Health authorities warned that the number of patients may rise as flood conditions continue.
On the other hand ndia has released more water into the Sutlej River, raising fears of fresh flooding in Punjab. Officials confirmed that high flood levels have been recorded at several points along the rivers Sutlej, Ravi and Chenab.
