Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Shehrbano Naqvi has become the first Pakistani woman officer selected for the prestigious Asia Society 21 Next Generation Fellowship.

The fellowship will be held from December 5 to 7 this year in the Philippines.

Inspector General Punjab, Dr Usman Anwar, said that global recognition of Punjab Police officers’ performance is a matter of great pride.

Shehrbano Naqvi rose to prominence in 2023 when she saved a woman from a violent mob in Lahore’s Ichra Market.

After the incident, the Saudi government also praised her.

“The Saudi Ambassador to Pakistan praised the bravery of the police officer and assured her that the Saudi government would cover the expenses of her and her family’s trip to Saudi Arabia as honored guests,” reported by media.

Naqvi also received widespread acclaim from politicians, officials and the general public

Women police officers are really making Pakistan proud. Recently, Anum Khan Muhammad Sher of Sargodha City Police Station won the Excellence in Criminal Investigation Award at the World Police Summit in Dubai for leading and solving two high-profile murder cases.

In October 2024, Rawalpindi Chief Traffic Officer SP Beenish Fatima received the IACP 40 Under 40 Award by the International Association of Chiefs of Police in Boston.
