Rain started in Lahore amid urban flooding threat in Pakistan

Heavy rain hits the capital of Punjab, Lahore.

Earlier, an urban flooding threat was issued for the northern cities of Punjab including Islamabad.

Army deployed in Jalalpur as floods worsen

The authorities have called army in Jalalpur where flood condition has deteriorated.

The Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) Punjab confirmed that the army was called in as floodwaters worsened the crisis.

The high flood alert was issued after India released more water.

Earlier, the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) said that there is a risk of urban flooding in Murree, Galiyat, Islamabad, and Rawalpindi within the next 2 to 6 hours.

A cloud system formed yesterday which could trigger heavy downpours. 

The district administration advised citizens to avoid visiting low-lying areas and directed all relevant departments to remain on alert to deal with any emergency situation.

NDMA has revealed that over 900 people have lost their lives due to floods in Pakistan.

As of now, Sindh is on high alert due to the flood threat.
