In a short period, Salman Ali Agha has experienced several major turning points, from leading the national team to being dropped from the squad.

Salman Ali Agha ranks second among Pakistan’s most successful captains to have led the national side in more than 10 T20 matches.

However, the past few months have been extremely turbulent for Salman Ali Agha.

He captained the national team in the first Test against England in Leeds. However, he was left out of the team for the second Test at Lord’s and was subsequently sent back home before the third Test in Birmingham.

Salman Agha made an impressive return to domestic cricket, scoring a first-class triple century in the President’s Trophy. Despite this, his difficulties did not end.

He has now also been removed as captain of Pakistan’s T20 team and left out of the squad for the series against Sri Lanka.

Thus, within a short period, Salman Ali Agha has experienced several major developments, from leading the national team to being dropped from the squad.

Salman Ali Agha also holds the distinction of having captained Pakistan in the second-highest number of matches (50), behind Babar Azam (85).

Of those 50 matches, Pakistan won 31, lost 18 and one ended without a result.

Based on these figures, Pakistan’s win-to-loss ratio under Salman Agha’s captaincy was 1.720, the second-highest after Sarfaraz Ahmed’s 3.620.

Under Salman Ali Agha’s leadership, Pakistan won four of their seven matches at the 2026 T20 World Cup, lost two and had one match end without a result.

Overall, the team’s performance was better, but the captain’s individual performance raised several questions. He scored only 65 runs in six innings at an average of 9.28.

Following this performance, speculation began that he could be removed as captain. Meanwhile, Sahibzada Farhan, who led Pakistan against India in the final of the Asian Games earlier this month, has now been appointed the permanent T20 captain.

It is also worth noting that Sahibzada Farhan was in excellent form during the T20 World Cup, scoring 383 runs in six innings, including two centuries and two half-centuries.
