PESHAWAR: Fitna al Khwarij militants launched a sudden attack on a police checkpost on Hangu’s Shaho Road, Qazi Talab area, within the jurisdiction of City Police Station resulting in the martyrdom of three police personnel.
According to DPO Khanzeb Khan, the terrorists targeted the checkpost under the cover of darkness, but the stationed officers put up a brave resistance and fought back with full force.
Media reports say Havaldar Wahid Shah and Constable Abdul Samad sustained critical injuries in the exchange of fire and later succumbed to their wounds, while another police official was martyred on the spot. The DPO added that it is too early to confirm the extent of possible losses suffered by the attackers, but evidence is being collected.
Soon after the assault, a large contingent of police arrived at the scene, cordoned off the area, and launched a search operation. Rescue teams shifted the bodies of the martyrs to the DHQ Hospital, where necessary procedures are under way.
The Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa strongly condemned the incident and paid tribute to the courage of the fallen personnel. He stated that the police force has sacrificed their lives for the safety of the public, a sacrifice that will always be remembered. Police officials reaffirmed their commitment to continue operations until the perpetrators are brought to justice.
KP Governor condemns terrorist attack:
Pakhtunkhwa Governor Faisal Karim Kundi paid tribute to the three police personnel who were martyred during the exchange of fire, offering prayers for the elevation of their ranks and patience for their families. He also conveyed his best wishes for the early recovery of the police officials injured in the attack. Governor Kundi said the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Police are bravely confronting terrorists, adding that the sacrifices of the martyred officers will not go in vain.

Funeral prayers for Head Constable Wahid Shah, Head Constable Hikmat Khan and Constable Abdul Samad were offered at Police Lines Hangu with full state honours.
The prayers was attended by DPO Hangu Khan Zeb Mohmand, SP Investigation Abdul Samad Khan, Additional Deputy Commissioner Abdul Naseer Khan, DSP City Amjad Khan, DSP Headquarters Muhammad Diyar Khan, DSP CTD Islam Uddin Khan, police officers and personnel, families of the martyrs, as well as a large number of political and social figures.
A smartly turned-out police contingent presented a salute to the martyrs, while officials laid floral wreaths on their coffins to pay tribute to the brave sons of the soil. The bodies of the martyrs have been sent to their native areas, where they will be laid to rest with full state honours.
