Quadcopter crashes in Bannu

Bannu: At least three people were killed and one injured when a Fitna al Khawarij’s quadcopter drone crashed into a residential area of Bannu district in Pakistan’s Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province.

As per local residents and media reports, the incident occurred in the Mamandkhel area, where the drone was allegedly being used by militants, raising fresh concerns over the targeting of civilians.

In the Patona Mamand Khel area, three people 16-year-old Faisal, 20-year-old Abrar, and 12-year-old Muhammad were martyred after a quadcopter allegedly dropped by Fitna al-Khawarij terrorists crashed, while 9-year-old Muhammad Aiman was injured. Rescue and security personnel reached the scene immediately after the incident, as a large number of local residents also gathered at the site. Security forces cordoned off the area and launched an investigation to determine the nature of the drone and its origin.

Police said that a day earlier an attack was carried out on the Sheikh Landikh police post in Bannu, where Indian proxy Fitna al-Khawarij terrorists used quadcopters and sniper fire. Police stated that the attackers dropped two quadcopter bombs near the police post building and also opened sniper fire from another direction. Both quadcopter bombs exploded after landing; however, no casualties were reported.

According to the report, police said that the Sheikh Landikh police post has been repeatedly targeted, with at least 14 terrorist attacks reported over the past month.

Meanwhile, police officials said that a powerful improvised explosive device (IED) blast on Saturday on the Wana Karikot Road in the Lower South Waziristan area killed a minor Afghan girl and destroyed a bridge.

According to Lower South Waziristan District Police Officer Muhammad Tahir Shah Wazir, the explosion occurred near a bridge, causing severe structural damage. Sources said the intensity of the blast led to the collapse of the bridge, disrupting traffic flow in the area. Nearby houses and a privately owned vehicle parked close to the site also sustained partial damage.

According to media reports, police stated that at the time of the explosion, the minor Afghan girl was present on the roof of her house. Due to the force of the blast, a portion of the roof collapsed, leaving her critically injured.
