Rawalpindi: A local leader of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) was injured on Six Road in Rawalpindi on Wednesday when two motorcycle-riding assailants opened fire, police said.
PTI union council chairman wounded
According to Police, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader and UC Chairman Zar Khan was hit by three bullets when the attackers approached his motorcycle and fired at close range. A passerby was also caught in the gunfire and sustained injuries.
Both victims were taken to a nearby hospital for treatment. Police said Sharif was stable enough to give an initial statement to investigators.
Attackers flee after the shooting
Witnesses told police the assailants fled the scene immediately after the attack. Officers have launched a search operation and collected evidence from the site.
Investigators probing possible targeted attack
Sharif informed police from his hospital bed that the incident appeared to be a targeted shooting. Authorities said they are examining all angles as part of the ongoing investigation.
