Chief Minister Sindh, Murad Ali Shah, has denounced Indian Defence Minister Rajnath Singh’s remarks claiming that Sindh could “return to India”. He also told Singh to stop “daydreaming”.

Syed Murad Ali Shah wrote on social media, “Sindh is an inseparable and integral part of Pakistan. Sindh was, is and will remain a part of Pakistan.”

Chief Minister Sindh also criticised Rajnath Singh and said the Indian Defence Minister is “Unaware of history.”

CM Shah clarified that Sindh had parted from Bombay in 1936, even before Pakistan was created. He also remarked that Sindhi people always valued their freedom, dignity and political identity.

Syed Murad Ali Shah advised Indian Defence Minister Rajnath Singh to focus on their internal conflicts instead of fantasising about Sindh.

Earlier, Indian media covered Rajnath Singh as stating, “Today, the land of Sindh may not be a part of India, but civilisationally, Sindh will always be a part of India. And as far as land is concerned, borders can change. Who knows, tomorrow Sindh may return to India again.”

According to Indian media, the Indian Defence Minister stated several times that Hindus in Sindh never accepted the province’s merger with Pakistan.

Pakistan strongly condemned Indian Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on Sunday for saying that Sindh could ‘return to India,’ calling his remarks delusional, revisionist, and a threat to regional stability.

Indian media earlier quoted Singh as saying: “Today, the land of Sindh may not be a part of India, but civilisationally, Sindh will always be a part of India. And as far as land is concerned, borders can change. Who knows, tomorrow Sindh may return to India again.”

Indian media reported that Singh said Sindhi Hindus of his generation never fully accepted Sindh’s accession to Pakistan.
