SPSC recruitment

The Sindh Public Service Commission (SPSC) has appointed 6,077 candidates in 2024, resuming large-scale recruitment across 31 government departments after earlier disruptions.

Presenting the 2024 annual report at the CM House, Chairman Muhammad Wasim said hiring momentum reflects steady reforms since recruitment restarted in September 2022 under the SPSC Act 2022.

Expanded hiring across 31 departments marks a strong recovery

A new headquarters has been set up in Hyderabad, while a computer-based testing lab for 500 candidates goes live in January 2025, strengthening capacity for timely and reliable testing.

Examinations, selections, and three-year outcomes at a glance

From July 2022 to June 2025, SPSC conducted 109 written examinations against 4,743 vacancies and 10,270 backlog posts.

Of 381,960 candidates who appeared, 26,722 qualified; 25,921 were interviewed.

Appointments in 2024 alone covered medical officers, staff nurses, lecturers, subject specialists, town officers, headmasters, and accountants.

Cumulatively, SPSC recommended 18,560 appointments over three years — 1,282 in 2022, 5,572 in 2023, 6,077 in 2024, and 5,629 in the first half of 2025.

Integrity safeguards and prudent finances underpin credibility

To protect merit and fairness, SPSC introduced a strong room to prevent leaks, online document submission, mandatory waiting lists, and anti-malpractice rules with penalties of up to five years.

The urban–rural quota has been enforced to ensure balanced access.

Financially, SPSC received Rs1.135 billion in FY 2023–24 and spent Rs1.086 billion. Examination fees generated Rs73.2 million, while Rs59.1 million were refunded where vacancies remained unfilled.

Development outlays included Rs1.363 billion for the Secretariat Complex and Rs50 million for institutional strengthening, with Rs3.92 million utilised so far.

Together, these measures signal aligning talent with public-sector needs and advancing Sindh’s governance goals.
