Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s Adviser on Political Affairs, Rana Sanaullah, has said that the way PTI staged its sit-ins, it might have been better not to hold them at all. He suggested that such protests and sit-ins may actually be part of a conspiracy against PTI — questioning whether there is a conspiracy against the party itself or whether certain elements are conspiring against the PTI founder.
Speaking on Geo News’ program Capital Talk, Rana Sanaullah said that the PTI founder does not want to spend even a single day in jail and is not comfortable there. He added that the founder’s living conditions in jail are “A-One” and that he has received the best possible medical treatment.
He questioned the preparation behind the February 8 wheel-jam strike call, saying the PTI founder was convinced that the entire country would come to a standstill that day. He remarked that talks of launching a movement after Eid would not yield any results.
Rana Sanaullah further said that if Sohail Afridi talks about launching a street movement, then meetings with the PTI founder during Ramadan could also be suspended.
He also revealed that on November 26, PTI had been advised to move to Sangjani instead of D-Chowk, where dialogue could have taken place. He said it was a serious effort, but PTI — or perhaps the founder — refused.
According to him, the PTI founder was being “fed” the idea that a revolution was imminent. He added that Mohsin Naqvi was directly involved in talks, urging them not to go to D-Chowk. Initially, the founder had agreed but later backed out of the decision.
