Karachi: The Sindh government has announced the start of recruitment for government jobs from Grade 5 to 15, ending a long-standing ban on public sector hiring. The government expects the move to open thousands of new job opportunities across provincial departments.
According to an official notification, the Sindh government has directed all relevant departments to begin the hiring process in accordance with established rules and regulations.
Transparent and Merit-Based Process Promised
The Sindh government said the new recruitment drive aims to ensure a transparent, merit-based, and fully digital hiring system for both male and female applicants. Candidates can now create profiles, upload documents, and apply online through the Sindh Job Portal (www.sjp.gos.pk).
Furthermore, officials emphasized that the digital portal will minimize human interference while also ensuring equal opportunity for applicants across the province.
Sindh Becomes Pakistan’s First Province With Centralized Job Portal
On October 28, Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah inaugurated the Sindh Job Portal (SJP) in Karachi, making Sindh the first province in Pakistan to introduce a centralized online platform for government employment.
Developed jointly by the provincial Department of Science and Information Technology and Sukkur IBA University, the platform allows candidates to register, upload documents and submit applications transparently across multiple departments.
CM Murad Ali Shah: “A Step Toward Benazir’s Vision”
During the launch ceremony, Chief Minister Shah said the initiative reflects the vision of the late Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto to promote equal opportunity and fair recruitment.
He added that hiring for Grades 1 to 5 would begin within 15 days, while higher-grade recruitments through the digital system would follow soon after. “The portal ensures online test scheduling, instant result updates and integration with the finance department to prevent delays,” Shah said.
Digital Governance and Employment Reform
Overall, the Sindh Job Portal marks a major step toward digital governance and employment reform in the province. In particular, officials expect the system to enhance transparency, reduce corruption, and streamline recruitment processes across departments.
With the hiring ban now lifted, thousands of unemployed youth are expected to benefit from the upcoming recruitment cycle signaling a new era of digital inclusion and opportunity in Sindh’s public sector.
