WEB DESK: The shares of the Hindustan Aeronautical Limited (HAL), the company which manufactured the Tejas fighter jet also plunged after the crash of the jet at the Dubai Air Show on Thursday.

The destroyed aircraft was valued at 6.4 billion Indian rupees. Following the crash, shares of the company,HAL,that makes the Tejas jet also fell by two and a half per cent.

According to foreign sources, the accident was another embarrassment for India at the airshow and raised questions about India’s aviation capabilities on a global level.

After the crash, the Dubai Airshow was temporarily suspended. Despite technical issues, India had included the jet in the show.

In 2021, another Tejas aircraft had crashed during a training flight in Rajasthan.

Initial reports suggest the jet had technical faults. The Tejas had already been mocked on social media before, making this its second crash.
With the jet’s fall, India’s pride also suffered a severe blow.

India’s attempt to showcase aerial stunts backfired, resulting in both a public embarrassment and the reported death of its Wing Commander Vikram Singh.
