Security forces successfully repelled a coordinated terrorist assault targeting a Pakistan Rangers transport facility near the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) area on University Road.
According to intelligence sources, a group of heavily armed terrorists launched the assault at approximately 8:10 PM on June 27. The attack began with a powerful explosion at the perimeter, which attackers used as cover to breach the compound. Following the blast, three to four terrorists managed to infiltrate the transport installation which falls under the jurisdiction of the Sector Headquarters Bhitai Rangers.
Law enforcement personnel and the Rangers’ specialized Counter Terrorism Wing reacted swiftly to block the breach, engaging the attackers in an intense close quarters gun battle inside the premises.
Tactical units neutralized five terrorists during the heavy exchange of fire, effectively ending the infiltration attempt. Intelligence sources confirmed that no Rangers personnel or security forces sustained injuries during the operation.
Following the shootout, security forces launched a comprehensive clearance operation in the surrounding area. Law enforcement agencies cordoned off the entire vicinity shutting down all traffic leading toward Chaman Iqbal Colony.
Meanwhile, intelligence and security teams detained several suspects from the perimeter for questioning. The Counter-Terrorism Wing remains on-site, conducting a sweep of the facility to ensure the area is entirely secure.
