Web Desk: Security forces repelled an attempted cross-border infiltration in the Chaman sector, killing several terrorists after a gun battle, officials said on Monday.
According to security officials, terrorists linked to Tehreek-e-Taliban Afghanistan (TTA) and Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) commonly known as Fitna Al Khawarej attempted to cross into Pakistani territory. However, troops responded swiftly, preventing the infiltration.
Subsequently, an intense exchange of fire broke out, during which seven to eight terrorists were killed. Officials said the remaining fighters fled the scene, leaving behind bodies and weapons.
Following the clash, security forces secured the area and initiated a search operation to eliminate any remaining threats. Authorities confirmed that the situation is now fully under control.
Moreover, officials reiterated their commitment to continuing operations until all terrorist elements in the area are neutralised.
Meanwhile, officials said Afghan-based militants attempted to shift blame onto Pakistani forces after the failed infiltration. Authorities rejected what they described as baseless allegations.
Security officials emphasised that defending national borders remains a fundamental right. They added that any future attempts at infiltration would be met with a strong and immediate response.
The Chaman sector, located along the Pak-Afghan border, has witnessed repeated security incidents in recent years, underscoring ongoing tensions and terrorist activity in the area.
