Web desk: The ongoing Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) summit has issued a declaration that supports Pakistan’s stance against terrorism, reaffirming its clear and firm position against all forms of terrorist activities.
Pakistan’s position on terrorism has always been clear and uncompromising, and it has been acknowledged worldwide. The ongoing SCO declaration also condemns all forms of terrorism, reaffirming Pakistan’s stance.
SCO declares double standards on terrorism unacceptable
“Double standards in the fight against terrorism cannot be accepted under any circumstances,” the SCO declaration stated. The declaration strongly condemned the terrorist attack on the Jaffer Express and the school bus carrying children in Khuzdar.
SCO calls for action against cross-border terrorism
The SCO emphasised that “all aspects of terrorism, including cross-border movements of terrorists, must be effectively countered.” Member states further underlined that, in accordance with relevant UN Security Council resolutions, the Global Counter-Terrorism Strategy, and UN principles, joint and effective action must be taken against all terrorist organisations.
On Afghanistan, the declaration called for the establishment of an inclusive government with the participation of representatives from all ethnic and political groups to ensure lasting peace.
It further noted that “every nation has the right to freely choose its political, social, and economic path,” while stressing that using terrorist groups for political or proxy purposes is unacceptable.
Pakistan exposes Indian role in terror incident
Pakistan has consistently presented evidence to the world of cross-border terrorist facilitation. India’s role in terrorist incidents, including the Jaffer Express attack and the Khuzdar school bus attack, has been proven with evidence.
In its April 24 National Security Committee statement, Pakistan had also offered India an independent investigation into the Pahalgam incident, but the Indian government has yet to respond. On Afghanistan as well, Pakistan’s position has always been consistent, aligned with what is highlighted in the SCO declaration.
SCO declaration highlights Pakistan’s consistent position against terrorism
Pakistan has repeatedly placed evidence of cross-border terrorism before the world, and this reality has now been further reinforced in the SCO declaration. As a result of Pakistan’s diplomatic efforts, the country is emerging as a net regional stabiliser in the region.
Prime Minister (PM) Shehbaz Sharif had previously landed in China to attend the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) Heads of State Meeting in Tianjin.
This year’s summit is set to take place from August 31 to September 1.
