Web Desk: A member of a proscribed action committee, Sardar Aman Khan, has submitted nomination papers to contest upcoming elections, accompanied by an affidavit in which he declares support for Pakistan’s constitutional framework, the armed forces, and a pledge to accept electoral results.
Khan submitted his nomination papers earlier this week, formally entering the electoral process despite his association with a banned group. The development has drawn attention in political and media circles due to the contents of his accompanying affidavit.
In the sworn statement submitted with his nomination, Khan expressed support for the accession of Pakistan and reaffirmed backing for the Pakistan Armed Forces. Moreover, he stated that he is not opposed to any administrative or government institution.
The affidavit further underscored his commitment to accept whatever outcome emerges from the electoral process. In addition, he provided a written assurance that he would not participate in any irregularities during the election and would abide by the final results.
Following the emergence of the affidavit on social media, senior journalist Syed Khalid Girdazi shared the document online and raised several questions regarding its consistency with previous public positions attributed to Khan.
Girdazi argued that if the stated position in the affidavit reflects Khan’s genuine stance, it should also be presented publicly in the same form. Furthermore, he suggested that Khan should read the affidavit from the platform of a protest gathering and clarify earlier statements that, according to him, contributed to mistrust and misunderstanding between communities in Pakistan and Kashmir.
As the affidavit circulates on social media, scrutiny over Khan’s political positioning is expected to intensify. Meanwhile, observers note that the case highlights broader tensions surrounding political reintegration of figures linked to proscribed organisations and the narratives they adopt during formal electoral participation.
