Rajab begins in Pakistan as moon is sighted

The Ministry of Religious Affairs announced that the moon for the holy month of Rajab has been sighted following a meeting of the central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee.

In an official notification, the ministry confirmed that the first of Rajab will be observed on Monday, December 22.

The ministry also stated that the birth anniversary of Ameer-ul-Momineen Ali ibn Abi Talib will be observed on January 3, while Shab-e-Meraj will fall on January 16.

Shab-e-Meraj marks a sacred event in Islamic history when Allah Almighty summoned the Holy Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) to the heavens. The night holds great significance for worship, prayer and reflection.
