Lahore: Punjab Chief Minister Maryum Nawaz has ordered the continuation of the existing uniform for traffic wardens across the province, reversing an earlier directive issued four months ago to introduce a new design.

According to traffic department officials, preparations had already begun for the procurement of the existing uniform, with plans to purchase approximately 14,000 sets of uniforms and accessories for wardens in Lahore and other cities across Punjab.

The procurement process is expected to be carried out using allocated funds worth PKR 80 million. Officials confirmed that a public tender for the purchase will be advertised soon.

Earlier this week, the traffic department had presented a redesigned uniform in a lighter brown shade for approval. However, after reviewing both the proposed and current designs, the Chief Minister decided in favor of retaining the existing uniform.

The decision brings clarity to the department’s procurement plans and ensures continuity in the warden force’s professional appearance across the province.
