Punjab allows summer camps in schools during summer vacations

Rana Sikandar Hayat said that the Punjab government has decided to allow schools to hold summer camps during the summer vacations.


According to the education minister, schools will be permitted to start summer camps from the very first week of the holidays. The camps will continue for one month during limited hours to help complete the academic syllabus.


He stated that private schools had requested permission to organize summer camps, after which the government made the decision. The summer camps will be held from 7:30 am to 9:30 am.


Rana Sikandar Hayat added that permission for the summer camps is being granted to ensure continuity in education and timely completion of the syllabus.

Earlier the Punjab government had officially announced summer vacations for schools across the province. The provincial cabinet had approved the proposals presented by the School Education Department.

According to the decision, summer vacations in Punjab will begin on May 22, 2026, while schools will reopen on August 24, 2026.

The decision was taken in view of the intense heatwave and rising temperatures to ensure the health and safety of students and teachers.

The provincial cabinet had finalized the schedule after reviewing various recommendations submitted by the Punjab School Education Department.

However, alongside consultations were underway to reach a decision regarding summer camps to which final decision has been made.
