Web desk: The Punjab School Education Department has warned of strict disciplinary measures against teachers found working at private academies during official duty hours.
A circular issued by the department instructed school heads to keep a close watch on staff presence and submit updated records of all teachers.
Officials noted that several government teachers were either running their own coaching centres or teaching at private institutes while being absent from classrooms.
The department said such practices not only break service rules but also harm students in government schools, as many teachers reportedly favour their academy pupils over those in regular classes.
According to the directive, principals must carefully monitor teacher attendance, both inside and outside the school premises. Failure to ensure compliance could also put principals and district education officers at risk of action.
The department made it clear that teachers linked with private academies during school timings would face formal disciplinary proceedings.
