Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has revised the schedule of its ongoing long march, announcing a new four-day plan that will take the protest through several districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa before the party decides its next move due to lack of public interest.
According to PTI Provincial General Secretary Ali Asghar Khan, Chief Minister Sohail Afridi will lead the march and address party workers and supporters in different districts.
Under the new schedule, the march will travel from Khyber to Peshawar on Thursday, October 8. Sohail Afridi is expected to address gatherings at various locations in the provincial capital before spending the night there.
The march will then head to Charsadda on October 9, where participants will stay overnight. On October 10, the convoy will move to Mardan before reaching Swabi on October 11.
Once the march reaches Swabi, the PTI leadership will announce its next course of action. However, the party has not yet confirmed when the march will proceed towards Islamabad.
Ali Asghar Khan has instructed district-level party organisations, elected representatives and workers to prepare for the convoy’s arrival and encourage public participation along the planned route.
Meanwhile, the ongoing protest has disrupted educational activities in parts of Peshawar.
According to education department sources, some public and private schools located along the expected march route have reportedly been closed due to security concerns. However, schools outside the affected areas remain open and are operating normally.
Earlier, educational boards in Peshawar, Bannu and Dera Ismail Khan also announced the postponement of examinations amid security concerns and disruptions linked to the march.
The revised plan will keep PTI’s protest within Khyber Pakhtunkhwa until at least October 11, with Swabi serving as the next major gathering point.
The party’s decision to change its schedule comes amid questions over public participation in the ongoing march.
For now, uncertainty remains over when PTI will enter Islamabad, as the leadership is expected to announce further plans after the march reaches Swabi on October 11.
