Islamabad: Speaking to the media, PML-N leader Senator Rana Sanaullah confirmed that his party would support the PPP’s no-confidence move in AJK but clarified that the PML-N would not become part of any new coalition government in the region. “The PML-N has decided not to join the AJK government. We will support the no-confidence motion and play our role responsibly from the opposition benches,” he said.

Political turbulence deepened in Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) on Sunday as the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) formally announced its decision to bring a no-confidence motion against AJK Prime Minister Chaudhry Anwar-ul-Haq.

The announcement came after a series of high-level consultations between PPP and Pakistan Muslim League–Nawaz (PML-N) leaders, signaling a major realignment in AJK’s political landscape.

Senior PPP leaders, including Raja Pervaiz Ashraf, Qamar Zaman Kaira and Ahsan Iqbal, also echoed similar sentiments, criticizing the incumbent AJK government for failing to deliver on its responsibilities. “The current setup in Azad Kashmir has failed to meet governance expectations. A change is now inevitable,” Ahsan Iqbal remarked.

Earlier, a joint delegation of PPP and PML-N leaders met President Asif Ali Zardari at Aiwan-e-Sadr to discuss the political situation in AJK and strategies for restoring stability in the region.

The PML-N parliamentary party in AJK has already passed a resolution expressing no confidence in the sitting government, while the PPP is expected to formally table the no-confidence motion in the coming days.

With both major national parties now aligned against the AJK Prime Minister, political observers say the motion could mark a significant shift in the regional power balance and potentially usher in a new phase of political reconfiguration in Azad Kashmir.
