WEBDESK: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has contacted political leaders across the country in view of the heavy monsoon rains and floods. He assured them of full cooperation from the federal government to deal with the crisis.

In his call with Pakistan Peoples Party Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, the Prime Minister expressed sorrow over the loss of lives caused by torrential rains and urban flooding in Karachi and other parts of southern Sindh. He offered all possible support to the Sindh government in handling the emergency.

The Prime Minister directed the Chairman of the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) to stay in close contact with the Sindh government, extend full assistance to the Provincial Disaster Management Authority, and issue early warnings to the public about potential risks.

Mr Sharif also spoke with Jamaat-e-Islami chief Hafiz Naeemur Rehman about the damage caused by rains in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and the ongoing relief work. He praised the efforts of Al-Khidmat Foundation for their active role in rescue and aid operations.

In another call, the Prime Minister discussed the flood situation in Sindh with Federal Minister for Education and Professional Training Dr Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui. He assured him of the NDMA’s and other federal agencies’ full cooperation in tackling any emergency arising from further rains.
