Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Mohsin Naqvi on Monday announced rewards for the national women’s team after the South Africa series. He singled out batter Sidra Amin for a Rs2 million prize, twice that of her teammates.
The ceremony followed Pakistan’s six-wicket win in the third ODI at Gaddafi Stadium.
Cash awards and a message for the World Cup
Naqvi presented the trophy to South Africa captain Laura Wolvaardt, who led her side to a 2–1 series win.
He then met Pakistan’s players and urged them to “play fearlessly without any pressure and fight until the last ball.”
The chairman framed the rewards as a morale boost ahead of the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup, which starts Sept. 30 in India and Sri Lanka.
He added that success “is always the result of teamwork.”
Sidra’s prolific run, then a calm chase
Sidra ended the three-match set with 293 runs in three unbeaten innings.
She struck back-to-back hundreds in the first two games and an unbeaten 50 in the finale.
Muneeba Ali made 44 off 76. Together, they added 65 for the second wicket.
As a result, Pakistan eased past a 116-run target in 31 overs with 114 balls to spare.
Sandhu’s record spell sets the tone
South Africa were all out for 115 in 25.5 overs after a bright start at 59 for 2. Omaima Sohail removed Karabo Meso to open the door.
Then Nashra Sandhu ran through the middle order with 6 for 26 in nine overs, her career best and the second-best Women’s ODI figures by a Pakistan bowler.
Syeda Aroob Shah took two, while Diana Baig and Omaima claimed one apiece.
Pakistan took the finale. Even so, the series went to the tourists.
