Web Desk: Pakistan’s Chief of Defence Forces, Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, visited the strategically important Quetta Garrison, where he reviewed the security situation in Balochistan and reaffirmed the military’s commitment to eliminating terrorism across the country.

According to a statement issued by Inter-Services Public Relations, the army chief was received by the Quetta Corps Commander upon arrival and was later briefed on border management along the Pakistan-Afghanistan and Pakistan-Iran frontiers, as well as ongoing counterterrorism operations in Balochistan.

During interactions with officers and troops stationed in the province, Munir praised their professionalism and morale while emphasising that Pakistan would continue pursuing terrorism groups “without compromise.”

Addressing military personnel, the field marshal stressed the need for armed forces to adapt to rapidly evolving security challenges and emerging forms of warfare.

He directed commanders and young officers to strengthen expertise in modern military technologies, cyber capabilities and artificial intelligence-driven defense systems.

Munir said contemporary conflicts are no longer confined to conventional battlefields and increasingly involve multiple operational domains, including digital and information warfare.

“As warfare evolves beyond traditional ground and air operations, forces must remain fully prepared for conventional, unconventional and cyber threats simultaneously,” he said, according to the military statement.

He also underscored the importance of aligning military preparedness with shifting regional geopolitical and security dynamics to ensure an effective response to hostile actions.

The army chief also criticised what he described as hostile propaganda campaigns and externally backed terrorism activity aimed at undermining Pakistan’s stability and economic progress.

He said attempts to weaken the country through “negative propaganda and foreign-sponsored terrorism” would not succeed in obstructing Pakistan’s strategic and economic development.

Munir added that the bond between the Pakistani state and its people remained the country’s “greatest strength” against hostile forces.

The remarks come amid heightened security concerns in Balochistan, where attacks targeting security forces, civilians and projects linked to the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) have intensified in recent months.

Military officials also highlighted the importance of socioeconomic development in ensuring long-term peace in the province.

Munir said sustainable stability in Balochistan could not rely solely on military operations and required parallel efforts focused on public welfare, infrastructure, education and employment opportunities.

The military has increasingly emphasised a combination of “kinetic” counterterrorism operations and non-kinetic strategies, including countering misinformation and supporting development initiatives alongside civilian authorities.

Balochistan, Pakistan’s largest province by land area and rich in natural resources, has long faced separatist violence and insurgent activity. Officials have repeatedly accused hostile foreign actors of fueling unrest in the province through digital propaganda and militant financing.

The Quetta visit, officials said, aimed to reinforce operational readiness while signaling that security forces would continue efforts to maintain peace and stability in the region.
