Islamabad: Pakistan strongly rejected Taliban spokesperson’s remarks, calling them “malicious and misleading” and reaffirmed that there is complete unity among its political and military leadership over national security and Afghanistan-related policies.
Defence Minister Khawaja Asif on X (formerly Twitter), shared a unified stance on ensuring the nation’s security and maintaining a comprehensive approach toward Afghanistan. Furthermore, the statement added that Pakistan’s policies are grounded in safeguarding citizens and promoting peace and stability in the region.
Accusations Against Afghan Taliban Regime
Khawaja Asif further stated that the Afghan Taliban administration harbor Indian-backed terrorist groups and destabilise the border region. It said the people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, who have borne the brunt of cross-border attacks, are “fully aware” of the Afghan regime’s support for what Pakistan called “barbaric and treacherous acts of terrorism.”
Internal Afghan Governance
Pakistan’s response went further, alleging that the Taliban regime in Kabul faces deep internal divisions and continues to oppress ethnic minorities, women and children while suppressing basic freedoms of speech, education and representation. “Even after four years in power, the regime has failed to deliver on promises made to the international community,” the statement said, adding that Kabul now attempts to divert attention from its governance failures through rhetoric and external alliances.
The Pakistan Government has emphasized that counterterrorism policy remains consistent, unified and guided by national interests. The country will continue to protect its citizens from “cross-border terrorism and extremist ideology” while working toward regional peace and stability.
