Web Desk: Pakistan successfully conducted a test launch of an extended version of its indigenously developed Fatah-4 ground-launched cruise missile on Tuesday, the military said, highlighting advances in the country’s precision-strike capabilities.
The test took place on Oct. 6 and evaluated the performance of the upgraded missile system, according to a statement issued by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).
The extended-range variant incorporates upgraded avionics and advanced navigation technology designed to improve its ability to engage targets accurately over longer distances.
The military said the trial also assessed additional technical aspects of the missile’s various subsystems. These upgrades are intended to improve accuracy while strengthening the system’s ability to operate and survive in contested environments.
Senior Pakistan Army officers attended the launch alongside scientists and engineers involved in the missile’s development.
The successful trial marked another step in Pakistan’s efforts to expand and modernize its domestically developed missile systems, with a focus on greater precision, range and operational survivability.
President Asif Ali Zardari, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defence Forces Field Marshal Asim Munir, and the chiefs of Pakistan’s armed services congratulated the teams involved in the test.
The country’s leadership also praised the scientists, engineers and other personnel whose work contributed to the development and successful launch of the extended Fatah-4 system.
The latest test underscores Pakistan’s continued investment in indigenous defence technology and the development of increasingly sophisticated precision-strike systems.
