Web Desk: Pakistan carried out precision strikes on seven terrorist safe havens inside Afghanistan, sources familiar with the development say at least 40 terrorists have been sent to hell so far.
Government of Pakistan said on Saturday it has “credible evidence” that a string of recent suicide bombings, including an attack on an imambargah in Islamabad and two incidents in the northwestern district of Bannu during the holy month of Ramadan, were orchestrated by militants operating from Afghanistan.
In a statement, the Ministry of Information said the assaults were carried out by elements it described as “Khawarij,” acting on instructions from their leadership and handlers based across the border.
According to the statement, responsibility for the attacks was claimed by the Pakistan Taliban, also known as Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan, which the government linked to “Fitna al-Khawarij,” as well as allied factions. The ministry added that Islamic State Khorasan Province (IS-K) also accepted responsibility for some of the incidents.
The government said these groups operate under the direction of leadership based in Afghanistan and have continued to conduct attacks inside Pakistan.
Islamabad reiterated that it has repeatedly urged the Afghan Taliban authorities to take “verifiable and concrete steps” to prevent Afghan territory from being used by militant groups and foreign proxy elements against Pakistan.
However, it said the Afghan Taliban administration has failed to take effective action against those responsible.
Meanwhile, Pakistan said it remains committed to regional peace and stability but considers the protection of its citizens its top priority.
Acting on intelligence, Pakistani forces conducted what officials described as “precise and careful” strikes on seven militant camps and hideouts linked to the Pakistan Taliban and its allies in the Pakistan-Afghanistan border region.
The government did not provide details about casualties or the exact locations of the targeted sites. There was no immediate response from Afghan authorities.
Pakistan also called on the interim Afghan government to fulfill its responsibilities and prevent militant groups from using its soil to launch attacks against other countries.
In addition, Islamabad urged the international community to play a “positive and constructive role” by pressing the Taliban authorities to honor their commitments under the Doha Agreement, which calls for Afghan territory not to be used against the security of other nations.
Officials said ensuring that commitment remains essential for regional and global peace and security.
