committed to diplomacy

Web Desk: Pakistan remains committed to diplomacy, regional stability and peaceful engagement with neighboring countries, while continuing to support the rights of the people of Kashmir, according to remarks made by a senior military spokesperson.

The comments highlighted Pakistan’s role in promoting dialogue and reducing tensions in the region, while also addressing developments related to Kashmir and broader regional security challenges.

The spokesperson said Pakistan’s primary objectives during recent diplomatic engagements and peace efforts were to promote stability in its neighborhood and help ease tensions among Muslim-majority countries.

According to the statement, Islamabad approached these efforts with sincerity and a commitment to peaceful solutions. The spokesperson credited Pakistan’s military and political leadership for pursuing diplomatic channels and exercising restraint during periods of heightened regional uncertainty.

The remarks also praised the leadership of Qatar and Saudi Arabia for their role in supporting dialogue and regional stability. In addition, the spokesperson acknowledged diplomatic contributions made by Türkiye and Egypt in efforts aimed at reducing tensions.

The spokesperson reiterated that Pakistan’s foreign relations are guided by national interests and are not shaped by the policies of other countries.

He said Islamabad continues to pursue constructive engagement with all nations through diplomatic, security and military cooperation, describing the country’s approach as an independent and multidimensional foreign policy.

According to the statement, Pakistan seeks positive relations with all states while maintaining strategic autonomy in its international engagements.

Turning to Kashmir, the spokesperson described the dispute as an unresolved issue that remains central to Pakistan’s national narrative.

He said successive conflicts and decades of tension have demonstrated that the dispute cannot be resolved through unilateral measures. The spokesperson also questioned whether economic incentives, development projects or demographic changes could address the political aspirations of the people of Indian-administered Kashmir.

He maintained that the principle of self-determination remains at the core of the Kashmir issue and argued that lasting peace in the region requires a political solution.

The spokesperson said Indian-administered Kashmir remains heavily militarized and claimed that residents continue to face uncertainty despite development initiatives undertaken by New Delhi.

He argued that efforts to alter the region’s demographic composition or introduce legal changes would not diminish demands for self-determination among the local population.

The remarks also accused India of attempting to create instability in Azad Jammu and Kashmir, while alleging that certain groups operating under the banner of rights activism had broader political objectives.

At the same time, the spokesperson said Pakistan’s leadership had consistently favored negotiations and dialogue in addressing public grievances in Kashmir.

He noted that authorities had engaged in discussions for the past two years and responded to various demands raised by stakeholders.

However, he added that the government believes the motives of some individuals involved in recent protests have become clearer over time. As a result, authorities would address any activities deemed harmful to public order or national interests through appropriate legal and administrative measures.

The remarks underscore Pakistan’s continued emphasis on diplomacy and dialogue while signaling a firmer stance toward what officials describe as efforts to undermine stability in the region.
