Web Desk: Under the updated tariff structure at Pakistan postal service, the price of sending an ordinary letter will depend on its weight. A letter weighing up to 20 grams will cost Rs40, while the charge will increase progressively for heavier items.
The rates will be Rs80 for letters up to 50 grams, Rs100 up to 100 grams, Rs140 up to 250 grams and Rs170 up to 500 grams.
For heavier letters, customers will pay Rs250 for items up to 1 kilogram, Rs320 up to 1.5kg and Rs400 for letters weighing up to 2kg.
Pakistan Post will also apply a registration fee of Rs40 to registered letters.
Consequently, sending a registered letter weighing up to 20 grams will cost Rs80. The charges will rise to Rs120 for up to 50 grams, Rs140 for up to 100 grams, Rs180 for up to 250 grams and Rs210 for up to 500 grams.
The revised rates will reach Rs290 for registered letters weighing up to 1kg, Rs360 for up to 1.5kg and Rs440 for items weighing up to 2kg.
Customers using the value-payable letter service will face an extra Rs20 in addition to the applicable postage and registration charges.
The total cost will therefore stand at Rs100 for letters weighing up to 20 grams, Rs140 up to 50 grams, Rs160 up to 100 grams, Rs200 up to 250 grams and Rs230 up to 500 grams.
For heavier items, the charges will be Rs310 for up to 1kg, Rs380 for up to 1.5kg and Rs460 for up to 2kg.
The registration fee for parcels has also been increased to Rs80.
Under the new tariff, customers will pay Rs260 for a registered parcel weighing up to 1kg. The charge will rise to Rs400 for parcels up to 3kg, Rs540 up to 5kg and Rs760 up to 10kg.
Parcels weighing up to 15kg will cost Rs980, while those up to 20kg will be charged Rs1,210. The rate will increase to Rs1,440 for parcels up to 25kg and Rs1,660 for those weighing up to 30kg.
For parcels exceeding 30kg, Pakistan Post will impose an additional Rs30 for every kilogram above the 30kg threshold.
The revised tariff will apply to domestic postal services used by walk-in customers from Oct. 1.
