Web Desk: Pakistan Post has directed all postmaster generals nationwide to activate its official delivery management application and submit compliance reports by today November 14 as part of its ongoing digital modernization efforts. Director General Samiullah Khan confirmed that the Universal Postal Union (UPU) funded the distribution of devices for app activation to post offices across the country.

Digitalisation Seen as Lifeline

Officials emphasised that digitalisation is central to Pakistan Post’s long-term survival, particularly as the government has set a December 31 deadline for the institution to reduce financial losses. Major post offices will be upgraded with modern computerised systems to meet rising e-commerce demand, improve service quality and enable faster mail transmission. Authorities also expect the digital shift to support new revenue-generating public services.

Plans to Avert Privatisation

Alongside the digital rollout, Pakistan Post has finalised key recommendations to prevent potential privatisation. Officials will soon present these proposals, which focus on financial sustainability and operational efficiency, to the Federal Minister for Communications.

Collaboration with BISP

In a related development, Pakistan Post also partnered with the Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP) to introduce digital payment solutions for over 10 million beneficiaries. Chairperson BISP, Senator Rubina Khalid, met DG Samiullah Khan and discussed a pilot project leveraging biometric verification. Both sides planned to convene technical teams to integrate systems and ensure secure, timely stipend disbursements.

Expanding Access and Inclusion

The collaboration aims to enhance financial inclusion, simplify payments and increase accessibility in remote areas. DG Khan added that Pakistan Post’s extensive network can extend both postal and financial services to underserved communities, underlining the institution’s role in national service delivery.
