ISLAMABAD: Directorate General of Immigration and Passports (DGIP) has launched a modern online system for passport fee payments. With this new facility, applicants will no longer need to stand in long queues at the National Bank of Pakistan.
According to a DGIP spokesperson, the system has been developed to ensure public convenience and save time. Citizens can now pay their passport fees within a minute through the new “Passport Fee Asaan” mobile application and the website Paymaster.com.pk, both launched in collaboration with the Ministry of Interior.
The spokesperson added that payments can be made anytime and from anywhere. To initiate the process, users must first generate a Payment Slip ID (PSID), available via the Passport Fee Asaan app—compatible with both Android and iOS—or the Paymaster website.
Multiple Payment Options
The new system offers several payment methods, including internet banking, ATMs, Easypaisa, and JazzCash. During payment, users must select the ‘1Bill’ option and enter “999999” before the PSID number. After successful payment, applicants can visit their nearest passport office to complete the remaining application process without waiting in any bank lines.
Government’s Objective
The DGIP spokesperson stated that the initiative aims to make the passport issuance process faster, more transparent, and user-friendly. The online payment system will help reduce corruption, delays, and human involvement, while providing citizens with convenient services from home.
Media reports suggest that the DGIP, with the Ministry of Interior’s approval, will soon implement this system across all passport offices in the country. Future plans include integrating the service with NADRA’s digital identification system, enabling citizens to submit complete online passport applications and payments—eliminating the need for office visits altogether.
Public Response
The initiative has been widely welcomed by the public as a practical step toward a “Digital Pakistan.” Citizens have expressed that if implemented effectively, the system will make the passport process much faster, more transparent, and hassle-free than before.
“Our goal is to make things easier for every citizen,” said the DGIP spokesperson. “Now, no one will waste time or stand in bank queues—just one click will complete the entire process.”
