Pakistan is placed fifth on the list of most affordable countries for public transport in the world. According to media reports, Iceland is the most expensive country for public transport worldwide.
The average cost of a single metro ticket in Iceland is almost Rs 1365, and the average monthly expense is around Rs 22,660, the report confirms.
Switzerland, the Netherlands, Denmark, Sweden, and Norway are also in the list of the most expensive countries regarding public transport. At the same time, the United Kingdom (UK), New Zealand, Australia, and Finland also appeared in the top 10 costliest countries.
At the other end of the ranking, public transport is free in Luxembourg, and it’s the cheapest country across the world. Nicaragua, Sri Lanka, Syria, and Pakistan are also affordable for transportation.
As per the report, the single metro ticket is Rs 46, and the average monthly cost of transportation is Rs 1800.
Analysts said public transport in Pakistan remains highly affordable for ordinary commuters, whereas in Europe, high fares continue to heavily impact household budgets.
