Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif met the European Union’s Ambassador to Pakistan, Riina Kionka, on Thursday and reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to strengthening cooperation with the European Union in all sectors.
According to an official statement, the Prime Minister reiterated Pakistan’s resolve to enhance cooperation with the European Union in the fields of trade, development, and security.
He also reaffirmed his commitment to strengthening cooperation with the EU in the areas of migration and climate change.
The statement said the Prime Minister emphasized the key role of the GSP Plus scheme in Pakistan–EU relations and stated that the Government of Pakistan is fully committed to close cooperation with the European Union for the promotion of trade.
The Prime Minister said that Pakistan is particularly committed to expanding trade through the GSP Plus scheme and expressed satisfaction over the Pakistan–EU Strategic Dialogue held in Brussels last year.
Speaking on the occasion, European Union Ambassador Riina Kionka said that the EU would continue to play a proactive role in further strengthening relations between Pakistan and the European Union. She added that the EU is committed to close engagement for the promotion of trade under the GSP Plus scheme.
She also said that the European Union is committed to enhancing engagement through the EU–Pakistan Business Forum scheduled to be held in April.
