Atta Tarar on Operation Ghazab lil Haq

Federal Information Minister Attar Tarar stated that Pakistan has decided to give a temporary pause in the ongoing “Operation Ghazab Lil Haq” against terrorists in Afghanistan on the occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr, following requests from brotherly Islamic countries Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and Turkey.

According to the Government of Pakistan, this pause will be in effect from the night of March 18–19, 2026 until the night of March 23–24, 2026.

The purpose of this move is to observe good intentions according to Islamic principles and traditions, keeping in mind the joy of Eid. The government has also sent a clear message to the international community that Pakistan is serious about promoting peace and Islamic values.

However, the government clarified that if any cross-border attack, drone strike, or terrorist activity occurs within Pakistan during this period, the operation will immediately resume with even greater intensity.

The decision aims to protect human lives during the festive period without affecting the efficiency of the anti-terrorism operation. This step reflects Pakistan’s cooperation with Islamic brother countries and is also significant for regional peace and stability.

All relevant security agencies and the Pakistan Armed Forces have been instructed to remain alert for any unforeseen situations during this temporary pause.

Through this decision, Pakistan has adopted a positive and responsible stance during Eid-ul-Fitr, while maintaining the effectiveness of ongoing counter-terrorism operations.
