Web Desk: Pakistan will host its first international football training camp in the southwestern city of Quetta later this month, marking a rare high-profile development initiative in the country’s football landscape.

The two-week camp will run from Jan. 26 to Feb. 6 and aims to strengthen grassroots and professional football through international expertise, officials said.

A six-member team of football experts from the Steven Gerrard football club associated with Liverpool in the United Kingdom will conduct the training sessions. The club is ranked among the world’s top football institutions, adding global credibility to the program.

Organizers say the visiting coaches will focus on modern training techniques, tactical development and fitness standards, offering local players exposure to international best practices.

The camp will bring together a diverse group of participants, including two men’s teams representing northern and southern Balochistan. In addition, the Balochistan women’s football team will participate, highlighting efforts to promote women’s sports in the province.

Meanwhile, the Pakistan Army football team will also join the camp, adding a competitive and institutional dimension to the training environment.

Officials view the initiative as a milestone for Pakistan’s football development, particularly in Balochistan, a region that has long remained on the margins of international sporting activity.

By hosting an international-standard camp in Quetta, organisers hope to identify emerging talent, improve coaching standards and encourage greater participation in football across the country.

The training camp is expected to conclude with evaluation sessions and recommendations aimed at sustaining long-term football development programs in Pakistan.
