Web Desk: Security forces killed nine terrorists after repelling a coordinated attack on a military camp in Pakistan’s Bajaur district in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, officials said on Friday.
Armed terrorists targeted the Mina area and attempted to storm the camp through Gate No. 2 after carrying out an initial explosive attack followed by heavy gunfire during the night.
However, security forces responded immediately and engaged the attackers in a strong counteroffensive, preventing them from entering the facility, officials added.
As a result of the exchange of fire, nine terrorists were killed, according to security officials. In addition, four Pakistan Army personnel were martyred while resisting the assault, they said.
Despite the intensity of the attack and the use of explosives, the attackers failed to breach the camp’s perimeter, officials stated.
Meanwhile, authorities said a search and clearance operation remained underway in the surrounding area to eliminate any remaining threats.
Wounded personnel were evacuated to Peshawar for medical treatment, officials added.
Separately, officials accused terrorists groups of attempting to spread misinformation on social media regarding the incident, saying such efforts were aimed at concealing their losses and undermining security forces’ narrative.
Security officials said the incident underscored continued terrorists activity in the region but also highlighted the effectiveness of the response in preventing further escalation.
