The Islamabad High Court (IHC) granted police an extra week on Friday to locate National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) Deputy Director Muhammad Usman, after his alleged disappearance on October 14.

Justice Muhammad Azam Khan heard the case, days after he gave a three-day deadline to the police in the federal capital for Usman’s return.

During the court hearing, Justice Khan noticed that the court wanted to resolve the problem instead of just giving dates.

Rozina Usman, the wife of the missing officer, is also missing after submitting the petition in the court, the lawyer representing Rozina tells the court.

Islamabad Police DSP Legal Sajid Cheema informed the judicial body that Usman was probing key cases besides the well-known YouTuber Saadur Rehman’s, widely known as Ducky Bhai, case at the time of his alleged disappearance.

He disclosed that some other officers of the NCCIA official’s investigation team were also missing.

The case originates from a first information report (FIR) registered at Shams Colony Police Station on Rozina’s complaint.

In her complaint, she reported that her husband was abducted by four unidentified armed men on October 14.

It is mentioned in the report submitted by Rozina Usman that the incident took place at around 7:30pm when the armed men arrived in a white car and kidnapped her husband at gunpoint.

Justice Khan said while hearing the case for the first time on October 20 that the Islamabad IG and the NCCIA’s Central officers need to appear before the court in person if the police were unable to recover him within the next three days.

Rozina’s lawyer, Advocate Raja Rizwan Abbasi, told the court that the complainant has also been missing after filing the petition.

“I do not know where the petitioner is. I fear that she has also been taken away,” Abbasi told the court.

However, the court rescheduled the hearing of the case until October 31.
