Pakistan fast bowler Mohammad Abbas has reached a major milestone during the England match at Lord’s.
Mohammad Abbas reached 900 first-class wickets after dismissing English openers Imogen and Ben Duckett during the first session.
The fast bowler claimed his 900th wicket by dismissing Ben Duckett, who had scored 17 runs. Earlier, he had sent Imogen back to the pavilion for eight runs.
Abbas achieved the milestone in his 222nd first-class match.
His impressive record includes a bowling average of 20.43, 57 five-wicket hauls and 15 occasions of taking 10 wickets in a match.
With this milestone, Abbas has moved to fifth place among the bowlers with the most first-class wickets in the 21st century. England great James Anderson leads the list with 1,157 wickets since making his first-class debut in 2002.
South Africa’s Simon Harmer is second with 1,056 wickets, while Sri Lanka’s Malinda Pushpakumara is third with 1,010 wickets. England’s Tim Murtagh is fourth with 959 wickets.
At the time this report was written, the hosts were under early pressure, having lost three wickets for 57 runs in 13 overs, with Abbas claiming all three important wickets.
Mohammad Abbas also took the wicket of England captain Joe Root.
