Mobile Internet Service Suspended Indefinitely

In the federal capital Islamabad and Rawalpindi, the entrance and exit points of the city have been closed in view of the march of the religious and political party Tehreek-e-Labbaik Pakistan (TLP) while mobile internet service has been suspended for an indefinite period. According to sources, the Ministry of Interior has issued a formal letter to the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) to suspend mobile internet service. According to the Ministry of Interior, the suspension of mobile Internet service was approved by Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi. The letter states that mobile internet service will remain suspended from 12pm tonight until further notice. According to the authorities, this decision has been taken due to security concerns so that any untoward incident can be dealt with in a timely manner. It may be recalled that the religious party Tehreek-e-Labbaik Pakistan has given a call for protest in the federal capital Islamabad on October 10 under the name of ’Labbaik or Aqsa Million March'. It may be recalled that yesterday, the district administration of Rawalpindi had imposed Section 144 in the city till October 11. According to the notification issued by the office of Deputy Commissioner Rawalpindi Hassan Waqar Cheema, all kinds of protests, sit-ins, rallies, processions and rallies will be banned in the city till October 11. The notification stated that Section 144 has been imposed for four days and during this time the use of loudspeakers will also be banned in the city. The notification added that in the current situation there is a risk of violent actions near sensitive and critical installations. In view of possible protests by the Tehreek-e-Labbaik Pakistan, the Federal Police and the Islamabad administration have started preparations to deal with the protesters, while all the entrances to the city have been closed. According to the district administration, it has been decided to completely seal the red zone and Margalla Road will be opened only for those concerned.
