Web Desk: Saudi Arabia has completed extensive defense and security preparations to safeguard millions of Muslim pilgrims expected to perform Hajj this year, with authorities intensifying aerial surveillance around Islam’s holiest sites.

The Saudi Ministry of Defense said it had established a reinforced air defense shield around the Grand Mosque in Mecca as part of a broader effort to secure pilgrimage areas during the annual religious gathering.

Moreover, the ministry released video footage showing advanced defense systems being deployed across strategic locations surrounding the holy sites.

Security monitoring has also increased over Mina, Muzdalifah and the Plain of Arafat, where pilgrims gather to perform key Hajj rituals. Saudi officials said the measures aim to ensure the safety, security and comfort of worshippers arriving from around the world.

In addition, Saudi air defense forces remain on high alert and are prepared to respond to any potential aerial threats during the pilgrimage season, the ministry added.

Every year, Saudi authorities launch large-scale security and logistical operations to manage one of the world’s largest annual religious gatherings. The kingdom has continued to expand the use of surveillance technology, crowd-control systems and emergency response mechanisms to strengthen pilgrim safety.

The Hajj pilgrimage is expected to draw millions of Muslims to the holy cities in the coming weeks.
