Apple’s new display-equipped smart speaker—unofficially referred to as the HomePad, while some reports call it the Home Hub—is expected to be introduced later this year.
The recently released macOS 26.7 beta contains indications related to the device’s launch. However, its final name has not yet been revealed.
Further analysis of the code suggests that the device may run a modified version of tvOS, while its interface will largely resemble that of the Apple Watch.
The HomePad’s home screen is expected to feature options such as “Faces” and “Face Gallery,” similar to Apple Watch faces. Users will reportedly be able to customize these faces according to their needs by adding different widgets and Smart Stacks.
In addition, iPhone app widgets could also be displayed on the HomePad’s screen.
Keeping user privacy in mind, the device is expected to include a special feature: widgets containing personal information will only appear when the user’s iPhone is nearby.
According to the report, Apple is preparing to offer the HomePad in two different versions. One model will feature a speaker base, while the other will be designed to be wall-mounted.
Apple’s launch of HomePad is expected to boost the company’s presence in the smart home market by combining a smart speaker with an advanced display. With Apple Watch-inspired customization, iPhone widgets, privacy-focused features, and two possible designs, the device could provide users a more personalized and connected home experience.
