Authorities in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) have taken action against the policemen who asked inappropriate questions to a foreign woman.

The exchange, which was recorded and posted on social media, soon went viral, attracting criticism from citizens who complained that such acts brought disrepute to the provincial police and the nation.

Reacting, KP’s Batgram police suspended Havaldar Rehman and put him under investigation, and two other policemen, riders Shahid and Waseem, were issued show-cause notices. Officials told they have initiated departmental proceedings against all three officers.

“Such behaviour is unacceptable and does not portray the values or professionalism of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Police,” said a senior official, while indicating that tourists traveling to the area should feel safe and treated with respect.

The unidentified female tourist has yet to comment on the incident publicly. According to local media, however, she continued her trip after the encounter.

Police authorities stressed that the agency is dedicated to providing a safe and respectful atmosphere for visitors, both domestic and international. They stated more guidelines will be enforced at checkpoints to avoid future occurrences such as the incident.
