Web Desk: Pakistan on Thursday held the opening ceremony of the Victory Monument in Islamabad, with the event bringing together senior political and military leadership, security personnel and large crowds of citizens ahead of Independence Day.
President Asif Ali Zardari, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir attended the ceremony, along with federal ministers and other officials.
The president was the chief guest at the event.
Contingents from Pakistan’s armed forces and civil armed forces participated in the ceremony, while units representing Azad Jammu and Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan also joined the proceedings.
