US delegation lands in Islamabad

Web Desk: A United States delegation arrived in Islamabad on Saturday, joining Iranian officials who reached the Pakistani capital a day earlier for high-level talks mediated by Pakistan, officials said.

However, as both delegations convened, unverified reports began circulating about the possible arrival of representatives from other countries. Officials familiar with the matter rejected those claims and emphasised that the negotiations involve only the United States and Iran.

Sources said the discussions are limited to the two principal stakeholders the United States and Iran with Pakistan facilitating dialogue between them. They added that no third-party delegation is participating in the talks.

Moreover, officials described reports of additional countries joining the process as unfounded and misleading. “These claims are speculative and should be disregarded,” one source said, referring to widespread online and broadcast narratives.

In particular, speculation about the presence of a Saudi delegation in Islamabad gained traction across some media platforms. Nevertheless, informed sources categorically denied any such involvement.

They reiterated that no representatives from Saudi Arabia or any other country are part of the current round of discussions.

Meanwhile, Pakistan continues to position itself as a facilitator, hosting the talks and providing a platform for engagement between the two sides.

Officials said the focus remains on direct dialogue between Washington and Tehran, rather than expanding the format to include additional participants.

As the talks proceed, attention is turning to whether the two sides can make progress on key issues. Analysts note that maintaining a narrow, bilateral framework could help streamline discussions and reduce external complications.

For now, Islamabad remains the center of diplomatic activity, while authorities urge caution against misinformation and emphasize the importance of relying on verified updates.
