Web Desk: Islamabad police have announced a traffic management plan for the central Eid Milad-un-Nabi procession, with several major roads set to face diversions during the religious event.
The procession will begin at the Rahmat Community Centre Ground in G-7 and proceed through Jamia Masjid Al Raza in G-7, Jamia Masjid Al Habib in G-7/3 and Street 55 before reaching the service road near the Iqbal Hall side.
It will then pass through Sadr, Melody Chowk and Aabpara before concluding at the Suhrawardy-Sakhi Mahmood shrine.
Police have urged commuters to avoid the procession route and use designated alternative roads to prevent congestion.
Traffic approaching Iqbal Hall from Sitara Market will be diverted, while motorists coming from the service road near the Dak Khana stop and Fire Brigade area have been advised to use Suhrawardy Road, Zero Point and Faisal Avenue.
Traffic travelling from Iqbal Hall toward G-7/3/1 and Razia Sharif Plaza will also face a diversion. Commuters in that area can use Seventh Avenue as an alternative route.
Meanwhile, traffic approaching Kulsum Plaza from Fazal Haq Road and China Chowk will be diverted. Police have advised motorists to use Jinnah Avenue instead.
Another major diversion will operate between Shahdara Chowk, GPO Chowk, Melody and Aabpara Chowk.
Motorists travelling through the area have been advised to use Shaheed-e-Millat Road from GPO Chowk as an alternative.
Traffic from Aabpara Chowk toward Suhrawardy Road and the Seventh Avenue intersection will also be diverted.
Police have specifically advised commuters arriving from Zero Point and Rawalpindi to use Seventh Avenue, Faisal Avenue and Srinagar Highway.
Authorities have asked residents to plan their journeys in advance and avoid roads along the procession route while traffic restrictions remain in effect.
Islamabad Traffic Police said commuters could follow its social media channels for real-time updates and listen to ITP FM 92.4 for the latest traffic information.
The traffic plan is aimed at maintaining a smooth flow of vehicles while ensuring the safe movement of participants during the Eid Milad-un-Nabi procession.
